Dear Pastors

My goodness so many words…..good words, important words, lifesaving words (literally) are being spoken and written at present in news bulletins, TV specials, newspapers, social media channels, emails, telephone calls and zoom meetings/gatherings. And all of this is very important.

I am ever so aware that I am adding to the word count. So today I am going to be very short.

Here are my 3 R’s for Redeeming this present moment in which we live. It still feels quite surreal, doesn’t it?

Review Your Life. There seems no better time than this moment to take a long and hard look at your life. Are you happy with the way it is going? Are you fulfilling your calling in life? Have you got the ‘balance’ right? Are you and your spouse in agreement about life’s big issues? Do any of your kids or grand kids need more of your time? Are you doing enough reading and thinking? How is your succession and retirement plan going? Etc etc

Renew Your Soul. How are you and God doing? How is your spiritual vitality right now? How have you been processing your disappointments and griefs of recent months and even years? How passionate are you about your work as a Pastor, really? Etc etc

Reset Your Future. It is now pretty much a no brainer to say that the future is going to be different in NZ (and the world) for quite some time. So then, what about your future? Having reviewed your life and renewed your soul, is a reset now required? If so what levers do you need to pull during this moment as you get ready for a new future? And even at my age that question keeps me awake at night.

And that’s it for this week.

Blessings

Alan

Announcement

The ‘Is God Anti-Gay’ Tour is CANCELLED. I am hoping like hang and praying that we can re-schedule next year.

My cleaning lady sent me an email saying she is working from home now followed by a long list of what to do. Sigh!
