A Christian Statement on Science for Pandemic Times
POV. This is such an important statement.
Please read it, sign it and then share it. Many of us are deeply concerned at the spread of conspiracy theories (and downright lies) since March this year. The increase of Twitter and Facebook posts is both astonishing and deeply concerning. The number of everyday Christian folks in NZ who are completely unhinged from the truth is frightening to say the least. Can I urge you to please help our brothers and sisters in Christ to love the truth and to discern the truth because only The Truth will set us free. The statement starts with this paragraph:-
“We, the undersigned, join together as Christians who uphold the authority of God’s Word and see science as a tool to understand God’s world. We call on all Christians to follow the advice of public health experts and support scientists doing crucial biomedical research on COVID-19”.
If 100 Christians Represented All of Global Christianity
According to the World Christian Encyclopaedia, the global Christian population totals 2.5 billion people. To help in the comprehension of that number, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Centre for the Study of Global Christianity has compressed it into this graphic as if 100 Christians represented all of global Christianity... According to these statistics, the typical Christian today is a non-white woman living in the global South, with lower-than-average levels of societal safety and proper health care. This represents a vastly different typical Christian than that of 100 years ago, who was likely a white, affluent European.
