Social Policy
The Salvation Army Social Policy and Parliamentary Unit (SPPU) is an excellent resource. Here is their second report (as at 14th April) called ‘COVID19 Social Impact Report and Dashboard’. It starts with a 4 minute video piece summarising the 5 issues the Salvation Army are focused on. They are - Food Security, Addictions, Financial Hardship, Housing and Income Support.
As we recover from COVID19 we all want a fairer society where the gap between the haves and the have nots is considerably reduced if not eliminated. How can we as the Christian Church in NZ contribute to this outcome? What can you do as a local church to contribute to a fairer and kinder society?
Money Management With CAP
Christians Against Poverty (CAP) have a brilliant financial education and budgeting tool called ‘CAP Money’. A superb resource for every household NOT just those from low income households. And also an excellent outreach resource.
Aimee Mai CEO says, ‘For the first time ever, CAP are hosting a CAP Money course exclusively for church leaders. This is for you to use for yourself, or to check out the course to see for what it might offer your churches and your community.
We really do believe that CAP Money is an amazing tool - simple and practical - to help people understand their finances, navigate changes and prepare for the future.
We'd love to share more with you about CAP Money. Here are the time options:-
- Morning: Monday, Wednesday & Friday (4th,6th and 8th May) from 11am – 12pm
- Afternoon: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday (4th,6th and 7th May) from 2pm – 3pm
As many more households are likely to experience financial hardship in the days and months ahead, here is an opportunity for local churches to provide a proven and reliable solution.
