Dear Pastors

Every now and then we need to stop the serious stuff and have a bit of a laugh……seriously!

The Aussie Cricketers. I know that good Christian humour should never be at the expense of someone else but heck the ‘sandpaper’ incident is in effect an open invitation by a few…..what shall I say……a few also-rans…..for jokes and memes. A quick check and there are hundreds already on the loose. Here’s a link for those with an ‘open mind’.

A Tweet from the Home Affairs Dept in South Africa: “South Africa Home Affairs is fast tracking visas for any Australian cricket fans who would like to live in SA.
We know it’s a rough time for you, so we’ll give you sandpaper upon arrival to make your move as smooth as possible”.

This reminded me of (one of) Robert Muldoon’s famous quotes- “New Zealanders who leave for Australia raise the IQ of both countries”. Aaahh you just have to laugh.

“I want to be like Sister Jean”. Now this is such a heart-warming and uplifting story.
Sister Jean is 98 and she is an active and much loved chaplain of Loyola University’s basketball team that is doing really well.
You can read the New York Times article here.

I thought this was very funny.

Why I'm KJV-Only
By Drew Dyck-Editor at CT Pastors

Yes, you read that right. I'm a proud KJV-Onlyist. But there's an important qualifier to make—and it's what separates me from the grumpy, crazy old dudes who speak in thee and thou's while favoring early 1990s website design.

I'm KJV-only ONLY when it comes to certain passages.

For instance, I lose it when someone starts reading Psalm 23 and it sounds like this: "When I walk through a really dark valley, I'm not even scared!" NOOOO! It's the valley of the shadow of death, you weirdo! And if you keep reading it in that silly translation, trust me, I'll give you something to fear!

The Lord's Prayer is another one that sets me off. "Hey, God, you're in heaven! That's good. Give us some good grub to eat." Please, for the love of all things holy, shut up! You're making my eardrums bleed, not to mention ruining western civilization. For heaven's sakes, think of the children!

For some reason my pastor says these "outbursts" are "inappropriate" and "distracting" for newcomers. But I'm undeterred. The path of the KJV-Only prophet is a lonely one. But yea, I shall fear no evil.

Some Music You may Enjoy.

As we know Ed Sheeran’s been in town. In Dunedin they went crazy over the Easter Weekend. To be honest I really like this man and his music. His newest song ‘Perfect’ is a cracker….actually one of the most beautiful love songs I’ve heard in a long time. Here’s a really cool version with Andrea Bocelli.
But here is a fabulous version by Philippa Hanna with Christian lyrics….and it’s NOT weird…..well at least I don’t think so.

Blessings
Alan
